Abstract

Facial Reconstruc????on (FFR) is a forensic tool that involves the reconstruc????on of a skull found in mass disasters,
earthquakes, terrorism, etc. It is an alterna????ve process where no evidence is available, and the face of the unknown body is
severely mu????lated by animals, physical a????acks, etc., to such an extent that even digital photography cannot establish the
iden????ty. Facial reconstruc????on techniques are based on the premise that a rela????onship exists between the underlying hard
????ssues with the overlying so???? ????ssues of the skull. Facial reconstruc????on can be 2- dimensional or 3- dimensional. So????ware
advancement has led to the development of computerized 3D-facial reconstruc????on systems to recreate characteris????c facial
morphology dependent on the skeletal features. The manual technique uses modeling material, such as plas????cine, shellac
biscuit, or clay, while the computer-aided technique provides for the reconstruc????on in a virtual environment based on the
scanning of the skull, using specific edi????ng and modeling so????ware.
